My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ro-ro-roscoe!

Hey guys! My name is Roscoe and I am a 5 year old, male Chi-Terrier mix, and all neutered already. I am about 17 lbs, but they say I need to go on a diet and workout schedule. Hmmphh! I was relinquished by my owner to actually give me a better life away from my two doggie siblings who were bullying me. I am completely bathroom trained and have excellent leash manners! I still have some anxiety, but we are working on it. I get monthly an injection of Librela (Cost depends on established vet pricing and dosage, ~$100 - $200) It is the first and only monthly anti-NGF monoclonal antibody injection to help control pain for canines with Osteoarthritis.

My foster family loves to call me Roscoe the Rascal, because I am such a fun-loving boy! Even though my doggie siblings bullied me, I am very friendly and enjoy running around dog parks making new pals. I like walks and jogs, but can chill at home with cuddles. I do love every new person I meet. I am just a lil shadow following my people. I am fiercely loyal and protective and have protected my family from many mail-people, delivery people, strangers who surely mean murder. Just kidding! I do have anxiety and do great around calm, easy going people and all dogs. I would do best in an adults-only home, but respectful teens would be fine.

I cannot wait to go to my furever home where I can settle down finally and shed all my anxiety. I have so much love in my heart just waiting to be shared. I will be a great walking, hiking buddy once my leash training is sorted. Another good dog will help me build confidence, but if I have to be an only dog, I can have playdates and be cool. I would love an active all-adults family and lots of attention. If you think we are meant to be, let's meet up!

"The Animal Pad recognizes that taking in a new dog can pose a challenge to the entire family. Roscoe’s adoption package includes a FREE four-week scholarship with our partner Goodpup (https://goodpup.com/). Goodpup offers virtual, individualized training to ensure you, your dog, and your family have the skills needed to thrive together. GoodPup Scholarships include:

  • 4+ weeks of positive reinforcement training

  • 24/7 chat for questions and support

  • Access to a behavior team to assist in advanced cases"

My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
