This helps Atlanta Lab Rescue with pet care costs.
Keela is a one-year-old, 48-pound lab mix who was taken to a vet by her owner when she was hit by a car. The vet diagnosed her with a broken leg and splinted it until she could see a surgeon, but they never took her and instead returned with her a week later with no splint. Keela dragged herself around without using her back legs, but the owner said she couldn't get treatment. The staff recognized that Keela was suffering and needed help, so they gave the owner rescue contacts and non-profit groups to call to help with finances, but she didn't do any of them. A couple of weeks later, with our commitment to take her and help cover the costs, they got the owner to surrender her. Keela has had three surgeries, and the staff at the clinic has rallied together to get her on social media, raise $5000, get their drug reps to help with preventatives, and even foster her through the process. She is finally ready to go to a new home and will be an excellent companion for someone. She is housetrained and crate-trained, is good with other dogs, and loves children. The wonderful vet staff made miracles happen, and Keela is ready for her new home.
