My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Fee: $460, plus taxes
Location: Foster Home

Barbie, nicknamed Honey since she is so sweet, is the definition of "rescue dog that deserves the very best forever home. She is hands down one of the most sweetest, well behaved dogs. After being picked up off the streets as a 6 month old baby, she has sadly lived in the shelter for 2/3 of her life. Even though she came from a sad situation, she is consistently impressing her foster family with her amazing behavior.

She's slowly becoming more comfortable! She has never had a family or lived in a home, so she's a bit more timid than most dogs, but in the sweetest way. She gets nervous and finds a safe zone when there is an unusual amount of high stimulation, so her foster family has accommodated specific spaces to make her feel safe and calm. Her behavior truly says, "please love me.

Barbie is super responsive to corrections and she wants to please so badly! Her foster mom taught her sit in under 10 minutes! She is potty trained, she even goes to the door and paws at it! She loves playing outside with the resident dog in her foster home. She's not a vocal pup, she doesn't make a peep in her crate. She has a very submissive personality so far to people and the resident foster dog. Her foster family has multiple young children and she absolutely adores them! She's very cuddly with everyone. She's simply a beautiful soul that deserves a family to show her the love she craves.

Barbie is about one year old, she is spayed, microchipped, and up to date with her vaccinations.

If you are interested in meeting Barbie and giving her the home she very much deserves, please fill out an application on Carver Scott Humane Society's website.

Go meet their pets

While we are a foster-based animal rescue and all of our dogs are in foster care, we do have a cat adoption space at our new Adoption & Wellness Center in Chaska. We also partner with local retail locations like PetSmart Richfield and Chuck & Don's Chanhassen to feature adoptable cats at their stores.

More about this rescue

Carver-Scott Humane Society was founded in 1989 with the mission of connecting animals in need with people who care. Our vision is a world where every animal is safe, cared for, and loved.

In 2017, we introduced a new, innovative rescue philosophy based on our Four Pillars: TNR, Serve Where You Save, FurKeeps, and Adopters Welcome. As of 2018, we adopt over 500 dogs and cats into the community every year, with a nationally reported Live Release Rate of 97%. We serve over 1,000 Minnesota pets and their families annually through our surrender prevention program, FurKeeps, aiming to keep pets out of the shelter system in the first place.

CSHS focuses on serving and saving Minnesota pets, and we do not transport animals in from out of state. We do our best to prevent surrender, which creates capacity for us to transfer most of our animals from high-volume impounds and shelters throughout the state. For the past three years, we have transferred more animals from Minneapolis Animal Care & Control than any other animal welfare organization.
