My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application.

Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website.

We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run.

We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have.

Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.

General Notes | Super sweet, mello and funny!

Personality | Loves to wag her tail when she's playing or exploring. Ruby is definitely a 'gem in the ruff'. As a long time breeder momma, for the first time she's enjoying walks, belly rubs and people talking to her. She's on a weight loss dog food due to her weight, and with continued exercise she'll be a normal 5 year young dog in no time. She can't wait to be outside enjoying her people.

Story | rescued from a breeder that was going to euthanize her and 25 others! For 4 years she likely did nothing but pump out chocolate lab puppies.

Other Dogs | wags her tail.. was housed with many dogs; however, she prefers a slower introduction. Currently lives with a male dog and they coexist fine after time.

Cats |Cat friendly even with food present - as long as the cat doesn't want to rub on her. Like always - supervision required in the beginning. Will get even better with training.

Children | she is very sweet with young children and teenagers, and seeks their belly rubs!

Training | in <1 day she's learned the house/our routine.  She knows her name. She comes and loves to go outside to explore. She learned the ramp to get in the car with a few kibble. Likes riding in the car, is completely housebroken (tells you when she needs to go), and can be left to roam in the house without fear of destruction.

Leash | walks well! Tail wags the whole time she's out. She's also been great off leash outside with her foster.

Activity Level | low-medium ..will likely be medium as she loses weight but she'll always be mellow

Health Notes  Healthy .. just needs help losing weight from being a mom.  Handling weight loss - diet & exercise well. She is heartworm negative!

Thank you!

Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).

Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process.

Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption.

We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!

We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.

More about this rescue

We started this mission to find far away dogs in rural places and work diligently to coordinate long-haul transports to get them to Colorado.
