Guy is one playful, joyful puppy! He is a four month old black and white Lab/Retriever mix that weighs 23 pounds. Judging from his paws he's going to be a big boy. He was brought into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/22 as a stray. You probably notice from his pictures that his right ankle is deformed. He has been taken to the vet for an x-ray of the injured leg/paw. It was determined that the deformity is from an old injury that did not heal correctly. He puts full weight on that leg/paw and it does not seem to bother him. The vet suggests to wait until he's fully grown and revisit the issue at that time. Meanwhile, Guy is going about the business of being a puppy. He was like a detective inspecting everything in the laundry room. He found toys and entertained himself with them. He continually jumped on me wanting closeness. He will need manners training to learn not to do this. If you're patient and willing to put the time in to his training it would be a good investment. He's highly motivated by treats, so should be easier to train. It was difficult taking pictures of him standing because he was so motivated that he continually sat in anticipation of a reward. When going for a walk he was very determined and knew where he wanted to go. For such a small dog, he had a relatively strong pull on the leash. He was not interested in meeting other dogs. He's very friendly, outgoing, affectionate, inquisitive, and eager. Until he learns not to jump on you he would be better suited for a family with older children. He wants to have a yard to romp in but wants to spend most of his time settling in with his new family in the house.
