Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kira hopes you don't want to take her to the race track because she is afraid of cars on the street and riding in cars. She is a shy social butterfly who was grateful to be able to stay with her finder for three weeks but now it's time to find her forever home. She weighs 10 pounds and is well behaved on a leash. She is friendly and playful with other dogs and behaves well at the dog park. She still enjoys barking at dog she meets during walks. She is moderately active and likes running and toys. She knows the come and no commands. She is used to children as young as six and around them is easygoing, friendly, and playful. She only got into trouble for jumping fences (don't know how high) and running away. She stayed outside and is not house trained so please be patient as you teach her. She is still very young and eager to learn. Please offer playful Kira the home and family she deserves. (tw 4/22/2024)

Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.

Special Discounts

Any dog/puppy adopted at the same time as a cat/kitten will be adoptable at a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
