My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everyone, I'm Eleanor, aka Lenny!

I'm a distinguished 3 year old standard sized poodle with gorgeous markings!
I have put my years as a momma in commercial breeding behind me and I'm ready to learn what life is like in a safe and loving home.

I am approximately 43lbs and I am crate trained, sleeping quietly in there at bedtime and I wait patiently to be let out.I will need some work with my ability to counter surf! I can really reach things and get into some precarious situations so a mindful eye on me will be needed.

I do very well with bathing which is good because my coat will require frequent grooming appointments.

I am housebroken, although when I go to my new home, I may regress. Thankfully I am an intelligent breed so things come fairly easy to me. I thrive on routine.

I am a laidback type of gal, preferring a more calm and quiet life overall. I do like to watch tv and I'm currently binge watching Bridgerton. I enjoy the outdoors as well though, so an active family that enjoys walks/hiking would be best for me. I am very well behaved on my leash and walk like a dream! I will require a fenced in yard so you could say I'm a versatile type of gal!

Loud sounds and sudden movement can startle me at times. Being kind and gentle are what I thrive to have in my home. My past experiences have made me timid but every day I'm becoming more and more confident and trusting. I'm a very sweet girl with lots of love to give.

So far I haven't met a dog I did not like, and I would really like another fur sibling in my forever home .I have yet to meet up with a cat. I've had limited exposure to children but I think I prefer the company of those older.

I am UTD on my vaccines, preventatives and spayed.

If you are easy going, loving, and ready to continue to help me along on my journey to seeing what the good life is all about, please apply today!

More about this rescue

Who We Are:
Zoe's House, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare group based out of Sinking Spring,PA. We are comprised solely of volunteers that generously volunteer their time, their homes and their hearts. We are dedicated to rescuing homeless, neglected or abandoned animals from high kill shelters or from owners who can no longer care for them. We provide the animals with loving foster care, veterinary treatment and rehabilitation until we are able to pair them with compatible and loving forever homes. At times we also offer permanent sanctuary to those with special or medical needs and that are considered unadoptable.

Zoe's House serves as a resource to our community and to our adopters by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, the importance of spay/neuter, behavior training, nutrition, puppy mill awareness, heartworm preventative and breed education. Our organization also networks with other shelters and rescues. We try to assist other organizations when possible.

Zoe’s House is not federally funded, and relies solely on donations to continue to rescue. Although we are not breed specific, the need to save Dobermans, Rottweilers, German Shepherds and Pitbulls is ever growing; therefore, we have focused primarily on saving the lives of our beloved and majestic strong breeds.

What We do:
There are many people involved in the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of each dog we take in. Our rescue effort starts with the initial intake request for a dog. Whether this be at a shelter of from an individual in the community, we try to gather as much information as we can. We then pickup or transport the dog to safety in rescue. At this time we administer immediate veterinary care to determine the health of the dog and ensure the animal has proper immunizations. We also have bloodwork done for a heartworm check, lyme, fecal and sometimes a blood panel depending on the age and health of the dog. The dog remains in "in-home" foster care and becomes a part of the fosters family for an undefined period of time. We evaluate the dog and work on basic manners and obedience. At times we have dogs for a longer duration due to health and/or age. The dogs in our care come with us to adoption events, home screenings, and ultimately permanent placement. Zoe's House then provides post-adoption follow-up and support and welcomes the new family to the "Zoe's House Family!" We strive to stay in close contact with all of our adopters to ensure the transition and life long relationship continues to be magical. We remain dedicated to the principal that we never want one of our rescues to end up in a shelter or in a home that does not provide a responsible and loving environment for the life of the animal.

We truly believe that one dog at a time... we are making a difference!
