We'd like to introduce a very special guy looking for a forever home - say hello to Pierre! This handsome 1 year old, 45lb Rottweiler mix, was living as a stray until he found his way to the shelter. After his mandatory stray hold period with our friends at Dallas Animal Services didn't turn up an owner, we made Pierre ours and set him up with a wonderful foster in TX!
Now here's where things get a little complicated: after we rescued him, Pierre tested positive for heartworm, a disease prevalent in the Southern US that can be fatal if not treated. Of course we immediately started him treatment and he's doing great! But heartworm positive dogs are not legally allowed to travel into New York state until they have a negative test, which typically takes at least 6 months and sometimes over a year after treatment is completed.
Because of his heartworm status, we're hoping to find Pierre a family outside of NY - and we'd love to find this guy a forever home in Dallas or the broader Northeast
Pierre is an extremely loving and friendly pup who would bring endless amounts of joy to any home. He also LOVES other dogs and is an overall delight. His foster mom absolutely adores him and has done an amazing job of getting him ready for his new home. Pierre is now ready for his happily ever after!
Approved adopters interested in Pierre can email adopt@hbrdogs.com for more info. If you're not approved yet, apply today at hbrdogs.com!
