Newt is a 4-year old, neutered DSH male. I've had him since he was a kitten. He's been around our other four male cats and has always been good, except for when our dog was brought into the house a year and a half ago. Since we've had the dog, Newt's stress and anxiety has continued to increase, causing him to spray in some spots throughout the house. Even with efforts of calming collars, diffusers, and cleaners, his behavior has continued. I isolated him in a guest room for a week and in that time, he was a completely different cat. In isolation, there was no spraying or behavior issues of any kind. He was back to being sweet, purring, and loving. After that, I realized sadly, that the best option for him is to be in a home without dogs. Even though he does get along with our cats, his stress may increase if he were to meet a cat he wasn't raised with. As much as I love him, I'm looking to place him in a loving home where he's the only pet, for his peace of mind.
