LEO NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Come meet Leo and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (May 5th) from 12-3 pm at the PETSMART in ALEXANDRIA (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!

Name:  Leo            Best Guess for Breed:  Terrier/Retriever Mix

Best Guess for Age:  6 months as of April 2024            SEX:  Male

Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):  25 lbs as of April 2024

Gets Along With:  Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.

Currently Living at: DC Foster Home

Leo is Looking For:  Hiya! My sister and I have loved hanging out with each other, but, honestly, it's getting to be time for my very own family.  and I am ready to stretch my puppy legs and find my own very own forever home! I'm looking for lots of love, treats, belly rubs, toys, and snuggles (not necessarily in that order). Once I'm a little older, I'd also love to go on lots of walks and other adventures, have lots of opportunities to play with other pups, and maybe take a class or two to show you how smart I am. What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for little old me?

What My Foster Says About Me: Coming soon!

Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.

Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than May 23, 2024. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.

Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!

TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.
If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
