Baby is a hound mix and is approximately 5 years old. She loves attention and to be near people. She is selectively friendly with calm dogs.
Baby will require a family with lots of love, patience, and understanding as she is a special needs sweetheart. Our understanding is she was born with a neurological problem that causes her to be somewhat uncoordinated. Cerebellar hypoplasia is a neurological condition in which the cerebellum is incompletely developed. Dogs, like Baby, have no trouble understanding the world around them, but they cannot control some of their movements the way typical dogs can. Dogs may have some difficulty walking, running, and eating due to balance and coordination issues. Although there's no treatment or cure, most dogs with the condition can lead long, happy lives with the right support. These are dogs with special needs but no shortage of love to give.
She is housebroken and dog door trained. Baby has had his preliminary vaccines, is spayed, and microchipped. Can you open your heart to love her? She most certainly will open hers.
All meet & greets would need to be by appointment only as Dogs in our care are kept on a private farm in northern Mercer County and NOT at the Mercer Humane office on Eminence Ave.
If interested, send a message from Petfinder, on our Facebook page; Mercer Humane Society Harrodsburg KY, contact us on our website: http://www.mercerhumaneky.com, or call our office at 859-734-9500.
