My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Paprika, a unique and wonderful Beagle mix. Paprika was born in foster care, so we have the complete scoop on him. DNA revealed 52% Beagle, 30% Shiba Inu, 16% Australian Cattle Dog with a smidgen of Border Collie and German Shepherd. What does all that add up to? Medium sized (some people think Shibas, Cattle Dogs and Borders are large, they are not) floppy eared, curly tailed, spunky, smart puppies.

Paprika IS 90% housetrained with a doggy door and sleeps through the night. He loves the outdoors and is a very gentle boy unless he is at play with his litter or other dogs. Then he's tough, oh, okay he THINKS he's tough, and quite the barker, that beagle DNA comes WAY out in his howl.

Although Paprika seems mild mannered, he has been first with everything. First to be born, first to open eyes, first to walk, first to and first to nudge his way through the garden fencing. He doesn't brag about it but he is quietly ahead of the pack. Unique is the best word for him...fill out an application and find out if this "best boy" is for you!

NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

More about this rescue

BREW Midwest is the midwest region of BREW Inc. (Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare). We are a network of volunteers and foster homes across Western PA, OH, MI, IN and IL.

Our Mission:
*Rescue beagles in danger of euthanasia from shelters
*Help beagles that have been removed from neglectful or abusive situations
*Educate families about beagles and their special qualities
*Find kind, loving families for homeless or abandoned beagles.

BREW is dedicated to rescuing and re-homing beagles. The main focus is beagles in shelters that are faced with imminent extermination. BREW works with shelters and animal control facilities and adopt beagles to families throughout our region. In addition to our rescue efforts, BREW is dedicated to increasing public awareness of pet overpopulation and encouraging pet owners to spay and neuter their pets. Towards that end, no beagle over six months of age is adopted from BREW without being spayed or neutered. BREW also works to alert people about the disadvantages of purchasing pets from a "pet store."
