This is our boy Pepper, a unique and wonderful Beagle mix. Pepper was born in foster care, so we have the complete story on him. DNA revealed 52% Beagle, 30% Shiba Inu, 16% Australian Cattle Dog with a smidgen of Border Collie and German Shepherd. What does all that add up to? Medium sized (some people think Shibas, Cattle Dogs and Borders are large, they are not) floppy eared, curly tailed, spunky, smart puppies.
Pepper is 90% housetrained with a doggy door and sleeps through the night. He is very easy going, smart and highly trainable. He loves outside and loves to play. Chase is his jam, inside or outside and he's pretty fast!! Pepper appears to be black with a white chest, but in some light, he seems to be a rich chocolate brown due to some subtle red highlights from his Shiba Inu dad. You'd have to pay hundreds of dollars at the salon to get a color combo like that!
Right now, it looks like this guy will be well behaved and a lover, yet still have the sassy energy that puppets have. Get your application in!
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
