My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Charleston will be getting neutered on Friday, April 26th and will not be available for visitors. Meet him before or after then to see if he's a good fit!*

Meet Charleston!

This outgoing guy arrived at HSoP as a stray, along with a second dog. Neither dogs were claimed by an owner, so now they're looking for adoptive forever homes. Charleston was named after the famous dance with the same name - since he dances to greet our staff every single day!

We estimate Charleston to be around 2 years old. He has a pretty strong tendency to jump, even to the point of almost walking on two legs sometimes! This is a habit that would be much easier to correct in a home setting. He does sit on command (especially when treats are involved) and he seems very eager to please his human friends. He would likely pick up new commands with ease.

Charleston is a very outgoing and curious dog. He wants to be friends with everyone, and wants to explore all of his surroundings! Charleston has done great with a leash so far and would likely enjoy going on hikes or other outdoor adventures with his future family. He has a lot of energy to burn, and will need daily walks or access to an outdoor space to ensure he's getting enough exercise.

Before leaving the shelter, Charleston will be neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped with his new owner's information. Since he arrived as a stray, we can't say how he might do around cats or other dogs. We do require a meet and greet with any dogs in the home prior to adoption, and offer a seven-day foster period to ensure a good fit. His adoption fee is $135.

Those interested in Charleston should come visit him at HSoP! Our dog kennels are open from 1:00-5:00pm Monday through Saturday and he would just love to meet you (mostly so he can show off his dance moves!). No appointments are needed, so just stop by when you have some time.
