If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
We fostered and then adopted Porter from a shelter in Phoenix, AZ when he was 2+ years old. Porter has been diagnosed with Valley Fever which cause no differences in his daily life except that he needs to take a pill every 12 hours everyday.
I had to move to Chicago for work January 2024 and my work is requiring me to travel a lot internationally so I am not able to keep him with me unfortunately.
Porter is a very very sweet dog, he likes to cuddle and to play in the house; he loves food and he would do anything for his treats :)
He never socialized when he was a puppy so he is not good around other dogs (he will stare at them and sometimes jump at them if they show enthusiasm to him as well). Before moving to Chicago, Porter never lived in a city so he showed some anxiety when walking on the road. I did few trainings this year and his behavior improved significantly- now he is excited to be around and- if interested- I think a trainer can work on him socializing with other dogs.
