Hi, my name is Janie and I’m a gorgeous 2 year old golden-hearted mix breed who is 70 lbs big and strong with lots of love to give! I am not a puppy but I have times of puppy excitement. I love to fetch my ball and play while at other times I am content laying near my foster parents, especially while they work at home during the day.
When it comes to my personality my foster parents would describe me as very loving towards my humans, appreciate getting affection, smart, loyal, and playful. I love a good tummy rub! My foster parents love my deep bark. I am pretty quiet and only use it to alert you when I see someone new outside. I can entertain myself by chewing on my bones. I really need someone who will take the time to teach me how to behave and I’ll quickly learn as I’m treat motivated and just want to please my people. I have the big habits down – I am potty trained and crate trained. I’m quiet all night and patiently wait for whenever you get up to take me out. I also do not mind if you occasionally leave me during the day.
My foster parents take me on a few mile walks every day. I’m pretty good walking beside them but I may pull hard when I see a rabbit or squirrel. I need some more leash training to understand that I need to pay attention to my leader and not get so distracted. I am not a long distance runner, more of a few mile walker.
My ideal home would be with someone who is familiar with big dogs and/or a family with older children so we all feel comfortable with my size. I love to play and sometimes I accidentally knock into people; I may even jump up on my human when I get really excited. I am almost as tall on my hind legs as adult humans, so my foster parents on working with me on training to curb this behavior. I will need a family willing to continue obedience training with me so that I may be the best possible! I would do best with a fenced in yard as it would be so much fun to run around in. Daily walks will be okay if you don’t have a fence. I would also thrive without any other feline or canine companions as I’d prefer my official title to be “Queen of the House.”
I would love to find my forever family and will quickly settle into your home and family life.
