My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mabel, an adorable, sweet, bundle of joy who loves her people and cuddles! She can be shy at first with new people, but once she gets to know you, her tail will never stop wagging and she will shower you with so much hugs and kisses! She gets along remarkably well with other dogs and her favorite thing is to play with them in the backyard. She is young and playful, but very quiet. She is not reactive to the doorbell or outside noises, and when she is ready to come inside from the backyard, she patiently sits by the door and waits for you to let her in. She is house trained, and crate trained, so she can sleep in her crate through the night without a peep. The ideal home for Mabel is a family or someone who understands her initial timidness and be patient with her so that she can learn to trust people and show her happy personality. This adorable girl is ready to make someone very happy! Is that you? Don't miss this opportunity to give her the loving home she truly deserves!

Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.

More about this rescue

Founded in 1992 the Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 20 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives including over 600 last this year. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation
