My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Louie! He's an energetic, outgoing boy who enjoys the company of adults, kids, and other dogs alike. This lanky teenage boy is still growing, so he might get a little bit bigger, but that's just more of him to love! If you're a fan of tennis balls, peanut butter, and lots and lots of playtime, we think you'll get along just fine with Louie. He has lived well with kiddos of all ages, cats, and plays well with other dogs. If you're active, outgoing, and energetic enough to keep up with 63 pounds of silly teenage dog, Louie might be the one for you!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

You’ll meet an Adoption Counselor to go over applications and discuss the animal you’re considering. We work with you to ensure your family, home and new family member is a perfect fit.
2. We’ll review all the documents and permissions (support from other adults in home, landlord permission and home ownership verification).
3. If your adoption is approved, your new pet can go home with you the same day providing they have had their spay/neuter surgery. If they haven't had their surgery yet, we will let you know when their surgery is scheduled and you can usually pick them up the next day.

More about this shelter

For 133 years, the Capital Area Humane Society has been sheltering homeless animals, fighting animal cruelty and neglect, and offering programs to address the needs of animals in our community. More than 92 percent of our funding is provided by donations and fees for services. We are not a government agency, and we do not receive general operating support from national organizations. The Capital Area Humane Society relies on the support of private donors and volunteers to make our work possible.

Since 1883 the Capital Area Humane Society has been dedicated to providing only the highest quality of care for everyone we serve, animals and people alike. We are a team of experts—skilled, caring and compassionate people dedicated to our mission of fighting animal cruelty, helping animals in need and advocating for their well-being.
