My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a middle aged, mature, house trained, smart, and happy pup? Stop scrolling because you have found Peepers!

When you scroll through Peeper’s photos one thing is made clear: He is happy go lucky! There is not a moment (or photo) when he isn’t smiling. Peepers is extremely house trained, affectionate (loves his cuddle time with humans), and is very smart - he already knows sit and stay! He is also motivated with treats so we think he’s going to love training sessions with his forever owner just as much as he loves them with his Volunteer & Staff friends.

Peepers has a well balanced temperament. While he loves the play yard and sniffing out every corner or playing fetch, he is also VERY laid back. He shows this off by being patient when you harness him for a walk, and because he is a very loose leash walker. His calm demeanor and happy personality is a dream!

His endearing blue eye/brown eye mix, big ole tongue and smiling face is ready to greet you when you come into AAC. Is Peepers the one for you?

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Go meet their pets

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00am to 7:00pm. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
