My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Oma, a big, sassy girl with love and fluff in equal measures. Though my name would suggest white hair, cookies, and a pinch on the cheek, I assure you that's not the case. Some might say I have an old soul when you gaze into my eyes but with a strut like mine you'll soon discover just how youthful I actually am! I love to play with a wand toy and will chase fuzzy mice when no one is watching. I can be independent but will also follow you around hoping you'll reach down and stroke me from ears to tail. I will require a bit of pampering to keep my fur looking its best but I can promise I'm worth the time. Come on in and introduce yourself!

More about this shelter

Founded in 1955, Woods Humane Society is a nonprofit organization which receives no tax funds, but is supported by donations, grants, bequests, fundraising events and fees for services. Woods is independent of San Luis Obispo County Animal Services, but works in close cooperation with them and other animal groups in the county for the welfare of all animals.

Woods now cares for over 3,000 cats and dogs each year at our facilities in San Luis Obispo and Atascadero until they can be united with loving forever families. We bring in animals from other shelters where they are less likely to be adopted and from individuals who are no longer able to care for their pets. Woods is committed to finding loving homes for all healthy and treatable pets, no matter how long it takes. With our behavior and veterinary resources, we are able to go the extra mile for animals in need.
