My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Who loves car rides, walks, and all things fun?!

Emma does!

Our gal Emma is a sassy and sophisticated young gal, who is full of ambition and opinions. Emma prides herself on being clean, and always makes sure to strut her stuff with purpose. She loves to play with her toys, throwing them in the air and running them over to you. Generally very calm and collected, Emma still has her puppy moments where she wants to play-play-play, and for you to be involved. An avid adventurist by day, Queen of naps and cuddles by night. Emma is all about balance.

Emma has been socialized with other canine and feline friends, and is happy to participate in playtime. Despite this, she would prefer to be the only animal in the household, as boundaries are very important to her. Being an Akita, Emma has a stubborn side and will require a partner in life that has patience and understands her personality. We advise that anyone interested do some reading on her breed, and know that she is best suited for an experienced owner.

If you're looking for an intelligent, witty, and active companion- Emma may be the one for you! Her ideal environment is a large fenced yard, with lots of opportunity to play/exercise, use her mind, and be amongst good company.

See our website at www.spca.bc.ca/PowellRiver for all of our current information.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
