**Adoption Profile: Gus**

Meet Gus, a charming 10-month-old Mastiff Hound mix with a heart as big as his paws! This gentle giant may be a bit timid around other dogs due to his past experiences, but he's an absolute people-lover and a devoted lap dog at heart.

Currently, Gus is in the process of learning obedience skills, as his previous training has been minimal. He's eager to please and would benefit from continued training to help build his confidence and manners.

Gus is a nature enthusiast who absolutely adores his walks, especially when exploring the woods. He would thrive in a home where he can enjoy regular outdoor adventures.

Given his nervousness around other dogs, Gus would do best as the only pet in a household. While we haven't tested him with cats, his gentle nature suggests he might get along with a confident feline companion.

One thing Gus can't resist? Treats! He's incredibly food motivated, which can be a fun and effective way to bond with him while continuing his training.

If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion who's ready to embark on outdoor adventures and snuggle up on the couch, Gus could be the perfect match for you! Come meet this sweet boy and see if you can give him the forever home he deserves.

More about this shelter

Our Mission:

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its 36 branches located around BC and its provincial office in Vancouver, the BC SPCA provides a wide range of services for more than 53,000 homeless, abused, and abandoned animals around the province. The BC SPCA was created under the auspices of the provincial Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and is the only animal welfare organization in BC which has the authority to enforce laws relating to animal cruelty and to prepare cases for Crown Counsel for the prosecution of individuals who inflict suffering on animals.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
