My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email ARL-Adoption@arl-iowa.org.

---

- Sweet guy who will lean up against you and ask for pets all up and down his body; also loves rump scratches and will back himself up to you so you can easily scratch him!

- Loves treats and will vacuum them right up off the ground

- Went on a Dog's Day Out field trip recently and enjoyed going on walks (he does great on a leash!), playing in the yard, being treated to a pup cup, and taking a nice nap afterward

- Will make it his mission to keep your yard free of squirrels and bunnies

- Has been known to jump a 4-foot fence when he's really focused on something, so please plan on monitoring him when he's out in the yard or keeping him on a leash so he stays safe and secure

- May need extra time to warm up to new people and things and may prefer a calm, quiet home; please plan on giving him extra time to settle in if he needs that

- Can be anxious in the car, so he may need some help becoming more comfortable with that

- May tend to avoid other dogs (dog intro recommended)

The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
