My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Mars!

The delightful 3-year-old terrier mix, weighing 40 lbs, ready to bring a spark of joy into your life!
Mars is a sensitive lady with a heart as big as the universe.

While she may initially come on strong when meeting new dogs, she shows potential to form wonderful friendships with the right canine companion. With patience and proper introductions, Mars could blossom into a social butterfly, enjoying the company of furry friends by her side.
Mars's ideal forever home would be one where she feels safe and secure, surrounded by understanding and supportive family members. Due to her sensitivity, she would thrive best in a home with children aged 10 to 13 or older, where she can receive gentle care and build trust at her own pace.

If you're searching for a loyal and loving companion to join your family, Mars is ready to light up your world with her playful spirit and affectionate nature. Together, you can embark on countless adventures and create cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Call 330-487-0333 ext 226 to arrange a meeting with Mars and take the first step toward welcoming her into your loving home. Let's give Mars the bright future she deserves among the stars! #AdoptMars #SensitiveSweetheart

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
