We adopted Marge 6 years ago from the APA in St. Louis and think she is about 9 now. She attached to us immediately, and has been such a great couch dog just wanting to spend time in our laps. Low energy, very sweet. She's not kennel trained, but is trustworthy left out inside as long as food is up. She loves having a fenced yard to play fetch. A bit protective of doors/barriers, but once you're on the same side as her, she's your buddy.
When we brought Marge home, we were not intending to have children - but now we have a 1+ year old who gets in her face and she recently snapped at him. We can't let that behavior escalate. They both clearly love each other; Marge is just a little unpredictable when dealing with her personal space and a small child who doesn't understand it.
She does great with other dogs at daycare, and usually at home as long as there are no toys/balls in play. She likely needs to be an only child (pet or human), but will provide so much love to the right home.
