My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**LOOK WHO’S READY FOR ADOPTION!**
Sophie has a very sad story.
A Good Samaritan that we’ve worked with in the past reached out to one of our capture team volunteers about a scared little doggie living in a field. He saw her when he was driving to work and when he drove home 10 hours later, she was sitting in the same spot.
He picked her up and immediately called us. We reached out to a wonderful foster family and they agreed to take her, so we made her an official Duck Dog!
We realized quickly that Sophie had some health issues that we needed to address, but this is ALL behind her now and she’s ready for her forever home!
Please read the bio from her foster mom below:
Sophie is the adorable little girl abandoned on a desolate road in Ferris. A Good Samaritan saw her frozen with fear and picked her up. She wobbled when she walked. Our vet said her hips were really bad. She had bilateral hip dysplasia. The vet recommended that she have surgery on both hips. The first surgery was in April; the second surgery was in June. She is healing nicely but she may need steps or a ramp to get on the couch or bed. She doesn’t need to be jumping down at this point until they are completely healed.
Sophie is a mini-Double Merle Australian Shepherd. The vet estimates she is 3 ½ years old now. She weighs about 15 pounds. She is partially blind and partially deaf. She loves to be close to you and she navigates just fine. Probably due to her sight issue, she does tend to be at your feet and you need to make sure she sees you move or tell her to move. She will do fine with children that are older and quieter than young children.
Sophie is the sweetest dog and her foster parents adore her. After all she’s been through, she deserves the very best. She loves to run and play and needs a playmate. Bigger dogs don’t bother her at all. She is crate trained and leash trained. She has all her shots and she’s spayed and microchipped.
If you are looking for a beautiful, loyal companion, ready to go anywhere with you, then Sophie is for you! ❤️

More about this rescue

Our niche is rescuing elusive dogs who have been living on the streets of Dallas, Tx. We spend days, weeks and sometimes months trying to catch a certain dog. The dogs then move into loving foster homes so they can be part of a family and learn more about home life. We have found that these dogs are extremely resilient and quickly adapt to life off the streets and make great additions to a family!

The dogs are vaccinated, de-wormed, microchipped, spayed/neutered and heartworm tested (and treated if positive). We spend a lot of time and energy getting these dogs off the streets so are very diligent in who they go to. We want to make sure it's going to be the ideal fit for both the adopter and the dog. We help them find the loving home they deserved all along! Please visit our facebook page to follow more of our adventures: www.facebook.com/duckteam6
