My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tilly is an exquisitely handsome, sensitive soul searching for his special someone who can blend just the right mix of fun and structure into his life. Tilly always leads with his heart and wants the same in return.

At just 3-1/2 years old, Tilly is a guy with goals who also appreciates the finer things in life! A paw-fect evening would be a delicious meal, followed by a lighthearted movie or comedy flick, all while cozied up with his lucky person. Though he does love a cushy lounging spot, Tilly isn't just a couch potato and connoisseur of delicious foods; he's also a perfect exercise buddy. Whether it's a stroll through the fields, a challenging hike or an exhilarating round of fetch, he is aways game!

Tilly needs an understanding adopter willing take the time needed to build a trusting bond with him. His introductions to new people are done slowly, giving him space to trust a new face. His early life was not easy, yet he has made tremendous strides. Once he trusts, you're officially welcomed into the Tilly tribe! You are going to love his humorous side and if you're lucky enough, he'll show you his prize winning head tilt!

Tilly is extremely intelligent and has mastered basic commands. He is eager to remain engaged and continue learning new things, keeping his mind stimulated and his handsome physique in great shape.

Bonus points if you're willing to team up with Tilly's advocates (or shall we say entourage?) at the shelter who are committed to ensuring his success, and with your help, he'll be on his way to a lifetime of well deserved happiness.

Additional adoption info

1. Visit our shelter and choose the animal that you would like to adopt.

Please be aware that the adoption process can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the information we need to cover with you and the number of pets going home at the same time. We know this is a time commitment, but your new pet will appreciate it!

2. Fill out an adoption profile. At PMHS, we use a profile and interview process to ensure that each animal adopted will be matched with the most compatible new owner(s). Once your profile has been reviewed, our adoption counselors will discuss with you any medical or behavioral information relevant to the animal you chose and process your adoption application. Every dog or cat that is adopted from PMHS is up to date with required vaccinations and microchipped.

3. Pay fee.

3. Congratulations! You are now ready to go home with your new pet!

More about this shelter

After 35 years, our organization is now officially known as Pope Memorial Humane Society. Though we have a new name, logo, and facility, it is important to keep in mind that we are the same organization at our core. Our staff, volunteers, and operations remain the same, as does our unfailing commitment to saving the lives of animals in need. We will continue to serve Strafford County and the surrounding areas of New Hampshire and southern Maine with the same dedication. Though we are proud of the growth and impact we have made in the last 35 years as Cocheco Valley Humane Society, we look forward to this new chapter in our organization’s story.
