My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Daphne, the delightful calico queen, is a senior feline with a spirit as vibrant as her coat. Her story is one of resilience, love, and the unwavering strength that comes with age. This charming girl found herself in a challenging situation when diabetes knocked on her door, but she faced it with courage and a purr-fect attitude.
Daphne spent some time in a caring foster home where dedicated humans showered her with love and attention. They worked tirelessly to manage her diabetes, ensuring she received the daily insulin shots and the specialized diet needed for her well-being. Under their care, Daphne blossomed into the sweet and affectionate soul she is today.

Daphne has found herself back at our facility. The change in environment has left her feeling nervous and a bit out of sorts. This lovely senior cat is searching for a forever home where she can rediscover the warmth of a loving family.
Daphne is a sweetheart with a gentle demeanor. While she may be initially shy, once she warms up to you, she'll steal your heart with her purrs and gentle nudges. She appreciates the quiet moments and would thrive in a calm, patient home where she can build trust at her own pace.

Managing diabetes is a part of Daphne's daily routine. She requires a committed guardian who can provide her with the necessary insulin shots and a carefully curated diet. With the right care, Daphne can continue to lead a happy and healthy life, bringing joy to her new family.

Daphne is seeking a loving and understanding home where she can feel secure. A quiet environment with a patient adopter who can provide the attention and care she deserves would be a dream come true for this beautiful calico. Could you be the one to give Daphne the forever home she longs for?
If you are ready to open your heart and home to a sweet senior cat who is eager to share her love, consider welcoming Daphne into your life.

Additional adoption info

1. Visit our shelter and choose the animal that you would like to adopt.

Please be aware that the adoption process can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the information we need to cover with you and the number of pets going home at the same time. We know this is a time commitment, but your new pet will appreciate it!

2. Fill out an adoption profile. At PMHS, we use a profile and interview process to ensure that each animal adopted will be matched with the most compatible new owner(s). Once your profile has been reviewed, our adoption counselors will discuss with you any medical or behavioral information relevant to the animal you chose and process your adoption application. Every dog or cat that is adopted from PMHS is up to date with required vaccinations and microchipped.

3. Pay fee.

3. Congratulations! You are now ready to go home with your new pet!

More about this shelter

After 35 years, our organization is now officially known as Pope Memorial Humane Society. Though we have a new name, logo, and facility, it is important to keep in mind that we are the same organization at our core. Our staff, volunteers, and operations remain the same, as does our unfailing commitment to saving the lives of animals in need. We will continue to serve Strafford County and the surrounding areas of New Hampshire and southern Maine with the same dedication. Though we are proud of the growth and impact we have made in the last 35 years as Cocheco Valley Humane Society, we look forward to this new chapter in our organization’s story.
