My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello friends! Are you looking for a loyal and loving companion who would promise to always be by your side and protect you from harm? My name is Tundra and I am a 75 lb. German shepherd mix. I am an older gentleman (probably about 7 years old), so I'm very mellow and well-behaved. My daily walk is probably my favorite thing in the whole world, but after that (and before it too) I am pretty content to snooze around the house. I am a very good boy and I know basic obedience commands like 'sit' and 'watch me'. I am also very good at coming when called. My nose does reach the counter and I like to sniff around while you're cooking, but if you tell me to knock it off, I will listen. I am potty trained and I am crate trained as well. My crate is a nice place to take a nap, and I will put myself to bed at night in my crate when I'm tired. I get along well with other dogs of various sizes. I haven't been cat tested, but I don't seem to get too worked up with the critters in the yard, so they might be ok too. I like kids and I do just fine with polite kids. True to my German Shepherd nature, I just really want a forever home with a person or family that I can bond with, love and protect. I am a great guard dog and I will keep watch over the place but I'm really just a gentle soul. Oh, and did I mention I love to go for car rides? I just sit there quietly and gently take treats from the coffee ladies. Foster mom says I'm a really easy and sweet boy. I just really want to find my forever home so I can settle in and start loving you!

Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
