My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Zara!
Breed Guess: Dutch Shepherd/Pomeranian Mix
Age: Young Adult...best guess is 2-3 years old
Weight: A very compact 23lbs

Other Animals: Zara wants to play with her fur foster but he isn't interested in playing with her and she respects his boundries.  She does give him kisses which he accepts from her.  We feel that she would probably do well with a doggy companion.  We were told that she was not reactive with cats and she doesn't try to chase squirrels or geese.
Kids: She is very nervous when meeting strangers right now so we feel that calm teens would be best
House training: She is totally fine but may need a little time to learn a new routine in a new home
Exercise needs: Zara is a low to medum energy pup. She LOVES going on walks and is good on leash.
What she's great at: When she earns your trust, she is a great cuddler.  She is house broken and happy to be in her crate.
What she's working on: Trusting new people.  Coming from a hoarding situation she didn't have exposure to much so she is learning that there is a big beautiful world out there.
Personality: Zara is a sweet little girl.  She warmed up to her foster family very quickly but she is nervous when meeting new people.  She would prefer to come to you in her time frame.  She was recently at an event and in a relatively short amount of time, she was started making friends with people as long as they ignored her and allowed her to approach them.
Zara's Story: She was found in a hoarding situation in Grand Cayman. She lived with a foster family there for a short time until they were able to get her to us.
Dream Home: She would love a quiet home with a patient family that will give her time to come out of her shell.  We feel that another dog would help her feel more comfortable but also feel that she may be fine on her own.  Zara would love someone that will take her on walks and maybe eventually a hike!  She also loves to cuddle on her foster dad's lap so seems to be the best of all worlds!

More about this rescue

FOSTER-BASED

All of our dogs are housed in loving foster homes until their forever family finds them.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

To provide safe harbor, medical care and love for adoptable dogs that have been abused, abandoned and neglected until they are placed into loving, responsible permanent homes; to decrease the need for senseless destroying of dogs by educating the public about the benefits of spaying & neutering; to build a community where people value animals and treat them with respect and kindness; to promote respect for life, responsible pet ownership and to encourage the higher ideals of compassion towards animals and people through education and example.

OUR COMMITMENT

Prior to adoption, each dog is spayed or neutered, receives a comprehensive veterinary examination and appropriate tests and inoculations. We conduct a thorough screening of all potential adopters to ensure the best possible match between healthy dogs and adoptive homes. We make a lifetime commitment to all of our rescued dogs. Our mission does not end with adoption. We follow up with advice, support and appropriate resources to assure a successful integration of each dog into his or her new home.
