Coda was a stray that we adopted at just 6 weeks. As a puppy he was high energy, but listened very well. At the time he had a large yard and tons of space to run and hunt. We no longer have that space.
As loving and caring and protecting as he is, he does have reactive tendencies and a biting history. We welcomed our first child 2 years ago, and he gets very uneasy around her. We made the decision to keep them separate due to his size and unpredictably, and that's becoming increasingly more difficult as she becomes a curious toddler.
He has not bitten her nor has he bitten other cats or dogs he has been around, but he can be very unpredictable and I think it would be best to keep him separate.
He truly is such a loving dog. We joke that he's such a stereotypical dog: loves balls and sticks, going for runs, bringing mom and dad presents, loves treats. He loves to cuddle up at night, but likes his personal space most of the day.
