Meet Pippin, an adorable five-month-old, 30 lb. Treeing Walker Coonhound/Retriever mix. With one blue and one brown eye, there’s possibly some husky in there too. We expect him to be 60-70 lbs. once fully grown. This sweet baby was found dumped beside the road in rural North Carolina. His rescuer saw him while she was driving by and stopped to investigate.
To her surprise, Pippin did not run away from her but instead kept going forward, looking back at her as he walked. Finally, he stopped and sat down in a pool of murky, muddy water and looked up at her with those big sad eyes. Tears were falling down her face as she scooped Pippin up and took him back to her car. He was so grateful to be in a safe place that he even fell asleep on the drive to her home.
Pippin is such a sweetheart and wants nothing more than to be by your side. Considering his young age, he is an exceptionally well-behaved puppy and loves getting any type of attention – whether it be in pets, belly rubs, or treats. Pippin has such a gentle personality and is so eager to please. He is great with other dogs and adores people of all ages, kids included. He is, however, a bit too curious about cats and wants to chase them. The foster says he is perfect!
He is a very good boy who is crate trained, house trained, but also capable of using the doggie door. Pippin’s ideal home would be one with a fenced yard because he's going to be a big boy and it would be nice for him to have a confined area in which he can run and play.
His adoption fee is $450 and Pippin is vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. He is currently located in NC and will be transported up north upon approval of an application.
