My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet 2 year old Marmalade! She is small but mighty. Marmalade is very friendly, she is ok with being held once she's warmed up, but mostly prefers to hang out with her person during the day, and snuggle up in the bed at night. Marmalade is good with other cats, dogs, and older children. She has not been exposed to young children.

More about this rescue

H.A.L.O. is the East Contra Costa County Homeless Animals' Lifeline Organization, better known as H.A.L.O. We are a nonprofit, all volunteer, 501c(3) charitable organization who assists dogs, cats and their owners in Eastern Contra Costa County.
We rescue approximatly 500 animals a year, all by volunteers, all in our homes and in our hearts.
We are not a shelter,
We have grant funds for the spaying and neutering of East County ferals and food for them if needed.
We have a program called "Angel Ears" where certified dogs and their trainers go to the local libraries and the children read to the dogs. This has proven a very effective way to increase reading skills rapidly. We also take the dogs to senior facilities.
We are in need of volunteer in many capacities.
