My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member on 4/27/24.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Say hello to Joe! Guinea pigs are prey animals, but once a guinea pig builds a relationship with their people, they enjoy snuggling in their adopter's laps for pets! Guinea pigs require a large enclosure (at least 10.5 square feet) with places to hide and toys to chew on for enrichment! They also benefit from time out of their cage every day to exercise and bond with you! Guinea Pigs enjoy munching on yummy timothy hay all of the time! They also love daily greens and orange slices in moderation. They require daily pellets to meet their nutritional needs as well! They can be big talkers and will express how they are feeling with different sounds - be sure to listen, to get an idea of what they are telling you! Want to know more? More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
