My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Mirra, the sweetest, friendliest girl of all who simply loves to express love with a kiss on the face! This young lady came to rescue with her sister and brother after their owners dumped them at the local shelter. It was obvious they had little people attention and food was not plentiful.  This girl has quickly warmed up and has learned how wonderful people are. She likes it when her person talks to her, putting their face real close so she can give a gentle dainty lick on the cheek! One of Mirra’s favorite things is when her person sits on the floor next to her giving her pets—she thinks that is special and soaks it all up! Mirra didn’t know how to play when she first came to rescue, but has quickly learned how much fun a good game of chase can be! Oh, and toys—boy does she love to pick up balls and toys to carry them around! She has learned that a crate is not a bad thing, and is becoming more comfortable in the house, knows her name and enjoys walking on the leash. This girl even enjoys being brushed, nail trims, the works; after all that equals more attention, affection, and pets! Hanging out under the shade tree with a good toy is a relaxing way to spend the day in Mirra’s book! Mirra loves the companionship of another dog and would even enjoy a kitty or two!  Mirra doesn’t ask for much, just bring love, guidance, attention, and maybe a big tree with a place to dig a Pyr sized hole—now that would be close to heaven! Mirra just wants to please her person and live her best life. The question for you—are you this young lady’s PYRfect family?

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.

We may consider fostering for some of our dogs who are in boarding. Please visit Fostering FAQfor an application and information about our fostering program.
