My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Helen!
She is about 5 months old and is wary of humans at first but getting better. Helen is shy and would do best in a home with another dog. Dogs make her happy and help her trust people. Another dog in the home is a must.

Her personality really starts to come out when she is running and playing with other dogs. She LOVES other dogs and has learned to read their boundaries pretty well. Helen also loves to play on her own with toys and bones, and you will often find a hoard in her kennel. She does have chewing tendencies, but does well with toy redirection.

Helen does great in a kennel overnight and during the day, and has learned the "kennel" command very well. Her kennel is her safe spot and is highly recommended for her. As she continues to learn how to live with nice humans, we have begun working on other basic commands. She would do well with some puppy training classes to help her learn obedience and build confidence in her person/people.

Helen does pretty well on a leash. She tends to walk more behind you unless walking with another dog. She has done pretty well with potty training, but is working on cues when she needs to go out.

Her favorite food is hotdogs, and she is pretty food motivated. Helen is really starting to warm up to people, but does best when she is allowed to come for affection on her own terms. Helen is looking for a patient and loving family who will give her the space, love, and training required to set her up the right way for the rest of her life.

Adoption fee is $300 plus tax.

More about this rescue

Camp Companion is a 501c3 organization established in 2003.

Based in Rochester MN, the organization is totally driven by volunteers.

Camp Companion is dedicated to providing low-cost spay and neuter services for feral, farm and stray companion animals. The organization is funded solely by donations, fundraisers, grants, and adoption fees. All funds we receive are used for veterinary expenses and the cost of care incurred for the animals waiting for their forever homes.

Through our spay / neuter efforts, we encounter kittens and stray domestic cats that need rescue services and a forever home. We have no shelter, but rely on foster homes to care for these rescued pets. Every animal we offer for adoption is spayed or neutered.
