My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Fee: $200, plus taxes
Location: CSHS Adoption and Wellness Center, Adoption Floor

Sonya is a sweet gray baby with an interesting way of communication for the first few days she has been with us. She was growling a little, but we quickly learned she was just nervous in her new surroundings. Sonya is as gentle as can be. She is sweet, she loves pets and scratches under her chin, and may even come in your lap and get in your face a little in case you want to give her a little smooch. Sonya is pretty casual. She enjoys lounging around. She also has her playful side. She likes a wand toy with a feather on the end. Sonya is kind of a sleek girl with very soft fur. Not sure if we have heard Sonya's regular meow voice yet. We are looking forward to that. Her nervous growls are starting to disappear. She is a lot of fun. Does not mind being picked up at all and is a great companion.

Sonya is about one year old, she is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all of her vaccinations.

If you would like to meet our little Sonya, please submit an application on Carver Scott Humane Society's website.

Go meet their pets

While we are a foster-based animal rescue and all of our dogs are in foster care, we do have a cat adoption space at our new Adoption & Wellness Center in Chaska. We also partner with local retail locations like PetSmart Richfield and Chuck & Don's Chanhassen to feature adoptable cats at their stores.

More about this rescue

Carver-Scott Humane Society was founded in 1989 with the mission of connecting animals in need with people who care. Our vision is a world where every animal is safe, cared for, and loved.

In 2017, we introduced a new, innovative rescue philosophy based on our Four Pillars: TNR, Serve Where You Save, FurKeeps, and Adopters Welcome. As of 2018, we adopt over 500 dogs and cats into the community every year, with a nationally reported Live Release Rate of 97%. We serve over 1,000 Minnesota pets and their families annually through our surrender prevention program, FurKeeps, aiming to keep pets out of the shelter system in the first place.

CSHS focuses on serving and saving Minnesota pets, and we do not transport animals in from out of state. We do our best to prevent surrender, which creates capacity for us to transfer most of our animals from high-volume impounds and shelters throughout the state. For the past three years, we have transferred more animals from Minneapolis Animal Care & Control than any other animal welfare organization.
