My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We are Bunny and Peep. Hopping down the kitty trail. Hippity-hoppity; I hope our adopter's on their way! I'm Bunny, a young adult, brown tabby and white female. Peep and I were brought to Paws and Claws from a farm in Dodge Center because we did not get along with our family's dogs, and our people felt that we are meant to be indoor cats instead of living on a farm. We arrived the day before Easter and were initially upset, but we warmed up quickly. We love to be petted and are quite playful. We like children, and we both like playing with toys. Our person described us as "very happy and loving." Although we did well together in our previous home, we have been having some "disagreements" since coming to the shelter, so we had to be separated. However, we might do just fine together in a home. We can be adopted separately or together. When you spend time getting to know us, you'll know that Peep and Bunny are a couple of sweet girls who will make "eggs-cellent" companions. Hippity-hoppity, come see Peep and Bunny today!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Paws and Claws Humane Society (PCHS) is a non-profit, mostly volunteer organization that rescues and shelters homeless cats and dogs until they can be adopted into their “forever” homes. We want our clients to understand that adopting and animal is a lifetime responsibility and commitment to that animal.

All prospective adopters must show (at the time of adoption) a valid drivers license or other acceptable identification to verify their name, address, and age. Adopters must be 18 yrs of age. Children under the age of 12 years old need to be present at time of viewing shelter cats or dogs.

After submitting an application, there is generally a processing period of 1-3 days in order to complete all pre-adoption checks and paperwork before an adopter may take possession of the animal.

More about this rescue

Paws and Claws Humane Society is committed to partnering with the community to shelter, protect, and seek adoptive homes for abandoned or lost companion animals.

We have served Southern Minnesota for over 30 years and we are the largest shelter in the 8 surrounding counties that does not limit the length of stay for the animals in its care.

Paws & Claws is funded completely on donations and fundraising events and receives no federal, state, county or city funds. We currently have nearly 900 dues paying members.

Paws & Claws has a community fund to help pay for the spaying and neutering of companion animals for those who cannot afford it.

We give over 40 tours and presentations annually, educating the public [including over 400 children] about proper animal care and the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals to help control the pet population in Southern Minnesota.

We have over 110 families that participate in the Guardian Angel Program [sponsoring animals] each month.

Paws & Claws will take in an injured animal and get the emergency medical care that it requires.

Local veterinarians in and around Rochester help Paws & Claws by providing over 145 free spay or neuters each year.

In a typical year the shelter will facilitate adoptions and provide care for over 600 dogs and cats.
