Sylvester is a teeny tiny Chihuahua x Terrier mix with a lot of love to give. He is incredibly cuddly and affectionate and just wants to be glued to his person at all times. We can tell Sylvester has had some mishandling in the past as he is insecure and is not so trusting of men. Sylvester definitely prefers women, but can be okay with males if introduced properly and slowly. He just tends to resource guard his “person” so would do best in a household where there are boundaries implemented and also not a lot of action like new people coming and going constantly. Given his handling sensitivity, we do not recommend homes where children or elderly folks are present.
Sylvester is potty trained and crate trained and is an excellent sleeper all throughout the night in his crate. He loves to borrow in warm fluffy blankets! He is also not much of a barker, unless in rare occasions where he feels threatened.
Sylvester would do well with an adopter who is understanding and also a strong pack leader. He has done extremely well with every pup he’s introduced to and is not reactive to other dogs on walks. Sylvester would be fine as an only dog, or living with another confident dog or two. He can exhibit separation anxiety so if he will be the only pup in the home, he’ll just need to be slowly eased into being left alone.
Sylvester would likely enjoy going everywhere with his adopter. He is great on the leash and likes long walks and hikes. His person would just need to advocate for him and not let strangers reach out to touch or grab him without his consent. After being dumped at the shelter and put on the euth list, we think this little fella is special and deserves the chance to to finally relax and score the right home!
