My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet, attention-lover, affectionate

Meet Rio Grande Vanessa! This tortie is 100% sweetness and docility---no fine print!

Well, there is one condition: Vanessa thrives on attention and is willing to be extra affectionate to win over your scratches! More than anything, Vanessa loves to be pet, and she will rub against your legs, arms, and hands to make sure you REALLY get the message. And if all else fails, Vanessa is willing to weaponize her sweet siren meows, guaranteeing her victory each time!

Even when Vanessa is not rolling all over you, her capacity for love is not quelled at all! She will enthusiastically prance over when she's called (expecting lots of pets, of course). And her love for making biscuits and rolling on her back for belly rubs speaks volumes about her endearing personality!

When Vanessa is engaged with toys, her playful side will unapologetically take over, and she becomes all silly and derpy! She will hunt, pounce, and wrestle string toys while you wave it around. Her favorite tactical move consists of rolling over on her back---belly up---to reach for the string (or your hands).

Vanessa's endless affection is hidden beneath a (thin) layer of cautiousness. Her adorable amity is best coaxed out in a patient home with people who are willing to carefully earn her trust. If she's in a calm environment, she'll be all snuggles in just a couple of days! If your home seems like the right place for this sweetheart, Vanessa would love to be your partner-in-crime!

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
