My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet your potential new best friend: a 2 1/2-year-old spayed female, boasting a sleek black coat that hints at her Labrador and Pit Bull heritage. This sweet, loving companion exudes calmness, thriving on cuddles just like a baby would. She's not just a pretty face, though; she's also smart, mastering commands such as sit, shake, kiss, and even hug, adding to her adorable repertoire. While she harbors a love for chasing birds, a testament to her playful spirit, it's noted she can sometimes play a bit rough with other dogs-a trait that potential adopters with other pets should consider. Walking her may require a bit of muscle, as she tends to pull on the leash, but fear not, she comes equipped with a harness to help manage her enthusiasm. This beautiful blend of breeds is looking for a home where she can share her boundless love and zest for life. Could that home be with you?

More about this shelter

Concern over a large, and ever increasing, population of homeless dogs and cats, instigated the opening of the Monroe County Animal Shelter.
A not-for-profit organization, Monroe County Friends of Animals help the shelter by providing volunteers, fundraising events, grant writing and more. There is always a need for more volunteers. With a small budget, donations are a welcome necessity. We have developed educational programs to promote spay/neuter and humane care of all animals.
