My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dawn, a charming 3-year-old Lab Retriever mix with a heart full of love, was found on Pumpkin Hollow Road, Madisonville, and is now eagerly waiting to find her forever home. With her gentle eyes and a coat as soft as the morning sun, Dawn embodies the joyful spirit and loyal companionship that Lab Retrievers are celebrated for. She's a delightful blend of playful energy and serene companionship, making her the perfect addition to any family looking for a furry friend to share life's adventures with. Whether it's going for walks in the park, playing fetch in the backyard, or simply cozying up at home, Dawn is ready to be by your side. Her story is one of resilience and hope, and now, all she needs is to be welcomed into a loving home where she can thrive and share her unconditional love. Let's help Dawn turn the page to the next chapter of her life filled with happiness and companionship.

More about this shelter

Concern over a large, and ever increasing, population of homeless dogs and cats, instigated the opening of the Monroe County Animal Shelter.
A not-for-profit organization, Monroe County Friends of Animals help the shelter by providing volunteers, fundraising events, grant writing and more. There is always a need for more volunteers. With a small budget, donations are a welcome necessity. We have developed educational programs to promote spay/neuter and humane care of all animals.
