My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kramer, the extraordinary 6-year-old Shih Tzu hailing from Alabama! Despite facing challenges with his vision, Kramer is just like any other dog.. This sweet, playful, very well behaved and oh-so-smart little man is ready to steal your heart.  Picture this: Kramer, with his tail wagging and a playful glint in his eyes, his joy knows no limits when he entices his foster mom to join him in a game of fetch or tug of war.

Kramer embraces life with enthusiasm, enjoying cuddles, playtime with squeaky toys, and leisurely strolls with his human companions. Whether he's engaging in hardcore play sessions or snuggling up for a nap, Kramer's affectionate nature shines through.

While he thrives as the center of attention, Kramer would also enjoy the company of a laid-back dog friend who understands his social cues. Although cats might not be his cup of tea due to his prey drive, with patient introductions, Kramer is sure to win over any new animal friends.

With ongoing support from Clarity K9, Kramer has made remarkable progress and is ready to continue his journey with a loving forever family. His medical needs are manageable with eye drops once or twice daily for his dry eye, along with regular vet check-ups to ensure his health and happiness.

Kramer is mastering the art of potty training like a champ. With each passing day in his new environment, he's showing remarkable progress and determination.

We envision Kramer finding his perfect match in a home with older children, where he can shower them with love and affection while continuing to bring joy and laughter to his new family. Vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on preventive care, Kramer is the epitome of a perfect companion waiting to brighten your days. Don't miss the chance to welcome this remarkable pup into your life!

Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped. Up to date on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

To apply for Kramer, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the animal is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

STEP 1: Apply!
Download and complete an ADOPTION APPLICATION from www.waggytailrescue.org/adopt-a-waggytail

STEP 2: The Meet and Greet!
We strongly suggest the ALL members of the household come to the meet and greet. This is the time to determine whether a dog's personality is match for you, your family and your other animals, and if you have allergies. If everything goes well you may adopt the same day, or take a day or two to decide, but we cannot indefinitely hold dogs in foster care for you.

STEP 3: Contract and Donation!
Fill out and sign the TRANSFER AGREEMENT.

The DONATION FEE may be paid by Venmo (@WaggytailRescue) or Paypal (waggytailrescue@gmail.com, add $15 processing fee). Please put the name of the dog in the memo section! Electronic payment is preferred!
You may also pay by check (payable to Waggytail Rescue), however processing of adoptions may be delayed by up to 2 weeks.
If your new buddy is not yet neutered, a $100 refundable deposit must be paid at adoption.

Dog Donation Fees
(includes microchip registration, age appropriate vaccines, and neuter)

$550 for puppies under 1 year
$450 for dogs 1 to 8 years
$325 for seniors over 9 years of age

Please add an additional $15 when paying by PayPal to cover processing fees.
Add $100 neuter deposit for unfixed animals.

More about this rescue

Waggytail Rescue is a NYC based animal rescue charity dedicated to the rehabilitation and rehoming of small breed dogs.

We focus on finding permanent placement for animals in urgent circumstances, saving dogs from imminent euthanasia at over-crowded local shelters, West Coast and South East kill shelters.

Founded in 2004, Waggytail Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has rescued over 5000 abandoned dogs and even a few cats and kittens! Through the tireless work of our many volunteers and amazing fosters, we are committed to continuing to find forever homes for New York's littlest strays.
