Freddy has been at the shelter only a few weeks, but it hasn’t taken us long to get to know this great pooch! He’s about 1.5 years old as of Feb. 2024. Freddy is a shepherd/hound who looks mostly like a hound, but there may be some other breeds in the mix. Whatever he is, his eyes are big, dark brown, and very expressive. He’s friendly with everyone!
He has a beautiful, shiny black-and-tan coat. Fully grown at 44 pounds, he has a nice long tail and long legs too. (He’s a real cutie whose cuteness doesn’t show in all of his photos.)
Freddy acts like a well-mannered puppy, showing lots of enthusiasm without being too rough. He really likes to be close to people and already knows how to walk nicely on the leash. Once he finds his forever home, we think he’ll quickly adjust to doing all his business outside.
He loves playing with our longtime shelter resident Chili and would do well in a home with another dog for a buddy. He’ll also do well with an individual or a family.
Freddy is up to date on vaccines and is already neutered.

Save The Animals Rescue Team II (S.T.A.R.T. II), started in 1989, is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 status organization dedicated to alleviating the plight of homeless and abandoned companion animals. Twice a week we visit a local pound and take as many adoptable animals as we can. These animals are provided veterinary care, clean living conditions, exercise and socialization.
We work with potential adopters to find that perfect match…..giving them a "fur"- ever home for life. In addition, we educate the public on the importance of spaying/neutering as well as offering low cost options, vaccinations, preventive medications, and proper living conditions for their new and existing pets.
This lifesaving work is critical for many of these unfortunate animals, since their only crime was to be born unwanted. Since our inception, we have rescued and placed over 7,000 dogs and cats.
