What can we say about Rocket? She is unlike any other foster cat her foster family has had. She was found in 2023 running around the parking lot of Spring Grove intermediate school, hiding under buses. Her original foster helped her adjust to the indoor cat life, which she learned she really doesn't mind it at all. She learned that people are kind and that she likes to have her head petted.
She moved to a new foster home to help expand her horizons. Here she likes to spend her days hanging in the one level of the cat tree, watching the other foster cats and soaking in the atmosphere in the foster room, like a queen on a throne. She likes to play with feather wand toys and chase around the other foster cats. When she is hungry she patiently stands by the door of the foster room and waits for her meal to be delivered. When her foster mom comes up to feed them, she can see Rocket's shadow under the door. Usually the other foster cats take Rocket's cue and wait with her, like her noble servants. She really springs into action after dinner and at bedtime. She starts to trill at the other cats and zooms around the foster room.
Rocket has a sweet orange face, with big round eyes. They say cats don't have eyebrows and have expressionless faces as a result, but Rocket's foster family would disagree! She is adorable. Rocket does have an interesting way of interacting with the humans in her world. While she trills to other cats, she speaks to her humans in hisses and growls and huffs! Once her foster family realized this was her way of communicating, they found it really endearing. Despite her gruff way of communicating, she likes to be stroked on her head and neck and upper back. She can't help but respond by arching her back and ask for more with her body language. Her foster family loves her dearly because of her occasionally surly disposition--she is like that one friend of yours who complains but you like to have them around because they make you smile a lot.
Rocket is a beautify orange tabby (female orange tabbies don't come around every day), estimated to have been born in October 2021. She uses the litter box faithfully and prefers only dry food, thank you very much. She is spayed, microchipped, tested negative for FIV and Felv, and is up to date on her vaccinations. Rocket would need to go to an experienced cat owner, someone who understands how to "speak cat" and can meet Rocket where she is. Ideally her new owner would continue to expand her world and let her acclimate on her own time table. Rocket is a great project for someone who is ready for one, and her foster family has enjoyed working with her. She also would be a great cat for someone who wants a cat presence in their house. A cat who likes to share space with a human--maybe for someone working at home and wants a cat to keep them company.
