My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I lived with children in my previous home.

I have lived with cats.

I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I am looking for a home with a patient person.

Sultan tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. He will likely need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that he go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior. Due to the behavior shown, he may not be a great fit for young children. Any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced.

A volunteer writes: Sweet little Sultan was sitting surrounded by his favorite toys right at the front of his condo. He looked like a very proud (and adorable) little statue among his circle of treasures. I offered Sultan my hand and he immediately bounced out of the pile and leaned into my hand for some pets. While he is as gentle and as soft as a butterfly, Sultan is a cat with a plan. He quickly explained that he loves neck scritches, pets, and cuddles and was ready to spend the day doing all three with a new friend! When I offered Sultan a toy from his collection, he politely declined before gently nuzzling into my hand again. Sultan seemed to glow with a little love and attention. He hopes that someone will offer him an invitation to join their family just as readily as he extended his paw to me in friendship.

My foster writes: Sultan is such a sweetheart! One of his most endearing habits is his love for scratches and cuddles. He's always eager for affection and has a way of making you feel special when you spend time with him. His gentle nature and affectionate personality would definitely make anyone want to meet him and spend some quality time together. He loves it when you pet him and scratch his favorite spots. Call his name, and he'll trot over to you, tail held high in excitement, ready for some quality bonding time. When he's not busy cuddling, Sultan enjoys lounging around, waiting for you to give him some love. He's a pro at relaxation and enjoys sharing his calm demeanor with those around him!
