My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hawkeye, affectionately known as Hawk, a magnificent 4-5 year old Great Pyrenees with striking badger markings adorning his majestic face. Weighing in at around 125 pounds, he embodies the true essence of his breed with grace and dignity.

Hawk is a calm and composed companion, deeply devoted to his duty of guarding his home with unwavering loyalty. His keen senses make him an excellent watchdog, always ready to alert his family with a few hearty woofs at the slightest hint of unfamiliar activity outside.

Despite his imposing size, Hawk possesses a gentle nature that endears him to everyone he meets. He gets along famously with less dominant dogs, feline friends of all ages, and adores the company of humans. However, due to some early arthritis, we recommend a home without young children (6 and younger) who might inadvertently cause discomfort with their exuberance.

While Hawk enjoys his moments of tranquility, he also relishes playful interactions with both humans and fellow canines. Fully house-trained and crate-trained, he adapts well to various routines and environments. Hawk's nighttime routine includes rotating between sleeping in the kiddos' rooms, where he slumbers peacefully through the night.

In his quest for perfect leash manners, Hawk walks admirably but can't resist the temptation to pause and investigate intriguing scents along the way. He exhibits a protective streak around other dogs in fenced yards, requiring gentle guidance to encourage relaxation during walks. Opting for quieter times for strolls suits him best, especially given his aversion to excessive heat.

To support his wellbeing, Hawk benefits from a daily joint supplement to alleviate the challenges of his large frame. A regular stroll helps keep his joints limber, although a home with minimal stairs, particularly for outdoor access, would be ideal for his later years.

Hawk is a true gentle giant in search of his forever home, where he can shower his family with boundless love and loyalty. With his steadfast presence, he is sure to bring immeasurable joy and contentment to those lucky enough to welcome him into their lives.
