Here's what the humans have to say about me:
ABOUT BENNY
Benny is about 5 years old and seeking a calm home to relax in. Benny came to HAP with his son, Smokey, when his owner was moving and unable to take them. His first few days, he did not eat, would not go outside, and was completely shut down. For nearly a month, he would not allow any handling, cowering in the back of his kennel. Thankfully, his kennel was located directly next to a fenced field, so he was able to go outside during the day to enjoy some extra space. He has truly come so far since then! Benny has warmed up to a majority of our staff, often seen throwing his back end into us for butt scratches. He also LOVES tennis balls and playing fetch!
****Benny has lived with multiple dogs previously. He would do best in a home without children or children that are familiar with the behavior of severely under socialized animals
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
