Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Specki finally arrived on 5/4 after being left behind at the North Augusta Shelter for 2 months. He was given many chances, dodging euthanization, and we finally managed to save him.
He's so sweet, gentle and a super good boy. Specki has clearly been through the ringer. Upon our evaluation, we learned he has wounds, scars, punctures, and a rib that's shorter on one side either due to a broken rib or just being a little funky. It doesn't bother him at all. He's a little slow opening up, but will do so in no time. You can tell he's been abused not only from the physical evidence but by his behavior as he'll freeze as you go to pet him. Despite that, we believe he tries to remain hopeful that someone will be gentle and kind with him.
We are still getting to know Specki(y) but he appears potty trained, does well on the leash and already knows a few commands. He needed some convincing to get into the crate but has been quiet. He's also dog friendly.
Will someone open up their hearts and give him a place to land before he becomes too use to the rescue base? We don't want him to feel like his comfort had to be ripped away from him and feel the need to shut down. He's a GOOD BOY.
Dog DNA Scan suggests he's;
Doberman
German Pinscher
Rat Terrier
He isn't very big.
Will be neutered before adoption.

Additional adoption info
We always start off with the application reviewing them at a first come, first serve basis. We look for the best possible compatibility and may ask questions to help to determine if you would be a great possible match. Next, we schedule something known as a "Happy Visit" where you can meet your potential new family member. We usually do this at your property which also covers the brief home visit. However, we also have adoption events or can meet in neutral locations for some animals. Afterwards, you sign an adoption contract and pay for their adoption fee.
We check in on a 3-3-3 basis to make sure everything is going well between your new pet while providing resources to help make transitioning smoother.
