My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello people in the Northeast, my name is Huxley and I am a handsome 1-½-year-old Labrador Retriever mix weighing in at 58 lbs and I’m ready to get the heck out of Texas. I was a stray dog in Corpus Christi, and when the dog cops brought me to the animal shelter I was already easygoing and friendly, wagging my tail and trying to plant a kiss on the officer. That’s just my style and my nature, I’m a medium-energy sweetheart, and everybody knows it. I love grownups, kids, strangers, and other dogs. I’m playful and goofy like a big ol’ puppy with a happy yet calm attitude. I love going on walks, I walk well on a leash, and I’m housebroken. I am totally forever dog material, now just waiting for you to adopt me so I can live the dream, and you can brag about what a cool dog you have, LOL. I will be moving to the Connecticut area, riding on board a Mercedes transport van all decked out for rescue dogs. When the door opens up and you see the most handsome boy with a great big smile on his face, that will be me!

* 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

Additional adoption info

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.

More about this rescue

We are a small group devoted to saving dogs from the multitudes of high kill shelters in Texas, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and California. We specialize in saving small to medium breed types and re-homing in the North East where there is less unwanted dog overflow and a high volume of qualified adopters.
